The forest always offers fascinating plays of light. Today, I was in the Annaberg-Buchholz area for a book project.
The small village of Frohnau is located right next to Annaberg-Buchholz. Numerous hiking trails around the village offer the opportunity to explore the region’s mining history. The scenic beauty of the trails is also a delight.
The 832-meter-high Pöhlberg near Annaberg-Buchholz is always worth a visit. Especially on hot summer days, the forest provides cool respite. The rustic landscape is enchanting.
The Devil’s Chair consists of several rocks located north of Buchholz. Visitors are treated to a spectacular view of the Annaberg district, with St. Anne’s Church and Pöhlberg. A hiking trail runs along the Devil’s Chair. This viewpoint is relatively unknown and not heavily visited, making a trip or hike in the area definitely worthwhile.
Today I hiked up the 832-meter-high Pöhlberg. From the top, you have a beautiful view over the region in both summer and winter. The hike will be part of my new book, “Viewpoints and Outlooks in the Ore Mountains,” which will be published this summer.
Freezing temperatures overnight transformed the landscape. The 832-meter-high Pöhlberg rose like an “iceberg” above Annaberg-Buchholz.
Temperatures are rising, and more and more people are being drawn to nature. Soon it will turn green again. From the upper Pöhlberg circular trail (832 meters), there are beautiful views of the historic town of Annaberg-Buchholz.
The middle circular path of the 832-meter-high Pöhlberg is not without reason called the balcony of the Erzgebirge. On many days, you have a wonderful view of the mountains of the region.
The 832-meter-high Pöhlberg at the foot of the mountain town Annaberg-Buchholz is clearly visible from many directions. For those hiking in the Annaberg-Buchholz area, it can serve as a great natural landmark. Alongside Bärenstein and Scheibenberg, it is one of the three table mountains in the region.
