Königsmühle is an abandoned site in the Bohemian part of the Ore Mountains near Kurort Oberwiesenthal. The small village has a unique charm. Numerous visitors regularly come to visit this deserted place. We are also frequently with hiking groups in the region.
Today I hiked up the 832-meter-high Pöhlberg. From the top, you have a beautiful view over the region in both summer and winter. The hike will be part of my new book, “Viewpoints and Outlooks in the Ore Mountains,” which will be published this summer.
From the town of Wolkenstein, there are many opportunities for extensive hikes. A very worthwhile destination is the Wolkenstein Switzerland with its impressive rock formations. A hike towards Thermalbad-Wiesenbad is also scenically attractive. From some hilltops, there are always great views of Wolkenstein Castle and the town.
The landscape of the Ore Mountains is unique. This applies not only to the mountains but also to the hedgerow landscape between the fields. Impressive is the “Rosehip Trail” between Geyersdorf, Mildenau, and Königswalde.
