The middle circular path of the 832-meter-high Pöhlberg is not without reason called the balcony of the Erzgebirge. On many days, you have a wonderful view of the mountains of the region.
Even on days with overcast skies, a hike in nature can be relaxing. On the 965-meter-high Velký Špičák (Great Spitzberg, also Schmiedeberger Spitzberg) in the Bohemian part of the Erzgebirge, there is always a refreshing breeze. Despite the cloud cover, visibility was quite good.
The 832-meter-high Pöhlberg at the foot of the mountain town Annaberg-Buchholz is clearly visible from many directions. Especially charming is the Schwarzwassertal. One hikes upstream in the valley, first through the gorge in the forest, before a beautiful meadow landscape unfolds near Zöblitz. On the way back over the ridge, one can enjoy the view into the valley and trace the course of the “Black Pockau” river well.
A very beautiful hiking area is located in the immediate vicinity of Annaberg-Buchholz. The small Waldhufendorf Königswalde meanders romantically through the Pöhlbach Valley. The village is an ideal starting point for day trips.
The Erzgebirge invites you to hike. The nature is blooming, temperatures are moderate, and the visibility is excellent. If you don’t have any plans for this or next week, you should head to the Erzgebirge – the mountains and valleys are waiting for you!
