Near Gelenau, there is a small pond in the middle of the forest that especially invites you to relax on hot summer days. On a hike, you can also visit the nearby Tisch’l in the Abtwald.

Today I was out in the Ore Mountains, working further on my book about viewpoints and outlooks. Along the way, I keep coming across wonderful subjects.

On Medvědí skála

The Bohemian Ore Mountains are always worth a visit. It is much more untouched than the German part. A magnificent view can be enjoyed from the 924-meter-high Medvědí skála (Bärenstein, also known as Bernsteinberg). This mountain will also be part of the book about viewpoints and outlooks in the Ore Mountains.

Wolkenstein in the Central Ore Mountains

From the town of Wolkenstein, there are many opportunities for extensive hikes. A very worthwhile destination is the Wolkenstein Switzerland with its impressive rock formations. A hike towards Thermalbad-Wiesenbad is also scenically attractive. From some hilltops, there are always great views of Wolkenstein Castle and the town.

Černý Potok – A Hiking Region near Jöhstadt

From Jöhstadt, there is a wonderful view of the small village of Černý Potok (Pleil-Sorgenthal), which is today a part of Kryštofovy Hamry (Christophhammer). The stream Černá Voda (Black Water), which flows through the village right on the German border, flows into the Pressnitz River. The region is particularly popular among hikers and cyclists.
