When hiking in the Zschopau Valley, you pass several castles. One of them is Scharfenstein Castle. From the castle garden, there is a beautiful view southeast towards the town of Scharfenstein and the surrounding landscape.
A very scenic loop trail starts in Scharfenstein, goes via Klingenweg over Hopfgarten, and returns to Scharfenstein. The nearly eight-kilometer route winds through forests and meadows, and along the Zschopau River on the way back.
